Has anyone had the chance to taste this? I just read three reviews of it by Charles Finkle, Charlie Papazian, and Roger Protz. Only Finkle gave it a thumbs down. Papazian gave it a good review based on the knowledge that it was designed to compete with the "Green Bottle" imports. He says it holds up nicely in comparison. Protz, Whom I respect the most of the three also gave it a decent review calling it "A well made lager beer with a skilful balance of aromas and flavors". While none of them gave it rave or glowing reviews, I was suprised that it even passed any kind of muster with these guys. Anyone tried it yet? My hopes are not high even though I know AB has the knowledge and capacity to brew great beers.

Chaz....
I've tried it. I was dissapointed because anything called "World Select" should be remarkable. It was very lackluster. I would say that it could give Heineken a run for its money though (I'm not a fan of it either). I'm gonna be in an area that I can pick some up over Christmas if you're interested.

No thanks. I'm sure it will be available here too. I would have not even considered trying it. I was suprised by the reviews. I was just wondering about others impressions. Thanks!

OOOPs sorry for posting it again. i just was kind of astonished that the 3 reviewers wer not as put off as I thought they would be.

Since Fred Eckhardt has often spoken his (less than favorable) opinion of A-B in his monthly column/article in AAB, and has had many a (less than happy) rebuttal from A-B, I wonder if the 3 of 4 reviewers were soft-shoeing? After all, Papazian's comment about them matching the skunkiness of the likes of Heineken isn't terribly complimentary.

I am simply a glutton for punishment I suppose, so I will try it. I have to try everything new or I will regret it. I haven't seen it yet though. Of course it may be in a different "section" than what I normally shop in. If it compares favorable to Heineken, that isn't saying much to me. I'll get some when I see it and review it.

Is this stuff distibuted nationally, or just in select markets?
Not an A-B fan, but I have yet to see it here in NE Ohio.
