Being in Petaluma, I have some wonderful access to the Lagunitas beers. I picked up a sixer of the Censored Rich Copper Ale just the other day.

Poured with a somewhat thin head but when pushed hard (barely side-glassing it) it turned thick and dense and dissipated at a moderate rate. Left some lacing but nothing like a belgian.

Yep, it's copper colored. Like a freakin pipe. Apparently this went by another name at one point, but I have no idea what that name was for why it was censored. Anyone know? I'm not so good with the nuances but the nose had a sharp fruity aspect. This is definitely not a deep dark from the abyss type beer. Very approachable. First sip, a soft cereal flavor with some piquant notes in the finish. Sadly, the finish is quite short. Seems abrupt and doesn't develop enough. Each sip reveals some new layers. There seems to be an implied sweetness with this brew. I taste it after each sip but during it is nowhere to be found. Also on the finish is a moderate alcohol flavor, an odd flavor that I don't usually detect in most beers. This beer can't be more than 5 points, right? I mean..maybe 5.5% max. Wrong: I was thinking this would be a great session pint, but the bastard is 7.7%. I mean, I guess it is still a great session beer but it'd kick my ass after 5 or so. This is a make-you-look-terrible-in-front-of-the-ladies beer. After 4 you say, "oh no...I'm done." And they say: "what a pansy." Also, this a cereal beer, in that the last thing your left with is the taste of the hops and malts.

Overall, I really enjoy this beer. It's definitely satisfying and unique.
