My wife has asked me to make a lighter beer for a change and I thought I might try and make an Augsburger Golden if I can find a clone. I haven't had one in about 25 years but I understand the Stevens Point Brewery in Wisconsin is making an all-malt version that won a prestigious award in 2003. Can anyone help with an AG recipe?

Millrat? I know you have friends up there. Any tips?

Unfortunately my connections were at Miller's HQ, not Stevens Point or Huber. For simply a lighter lager, I'd start with 10 pounds of Mich Weyermann bohemian pilsner malt, or cut that back a half pount to make room for some carapils if you want, infusion mash at 150 F, boil for an hour with, say, 1/2 - 3/4 ounce of northern brewer for the duration, ferment at about 55 F for two weeks with Wyeast bavarian (2308?), give it couple days at room temp for a diacetyl rest, cold crash another two weeks, carbonate and serve. It might not be Augie, but then again it might be.
