this is going to be interesting fo me to hear.
i planned for two years what i was going to have for thnxgiving, an old knumbskull 2000 . it was supurb!
but im stumped now for christmas ...i was thinking maybe a huge bottle of the anchor osa i saw the other day but im not sure.
how about you all?
and what are you going to be having your beer with?
because the meal should compliment the beer, and not the other way around ;)

I have a Cisco Celebration Libation '02 set up for Christmas Eve - maybe a Delirium Noel as well if I can get my hands on one before then.
For Christmas day, I'm thinking a Brother Adams Bragget - more of a sweet barleywine. Will be eating Christmas dinner a little late - the 27th. My wife has a good ham recipe. I'll have to find out the ingredients, but I'm thinking about pairing it with a Corsendonk Brown.
Drink well, eat well, stay safe. Happy Holidays!

I haven't shopped for my beer for the dinner table yet. I will be going this weekend to see what they have.

as far as home made stuff goes, i have my xmas ale- a moderately porter-esque/amber ale spiced with cinammon, ginger and cloves (comparable to drinking a gingersnap!), plus some pumpkin ale and cranberry wheat left over from thanksgiving. i might bust out a bottle of my blueberry mead i made in april too. should be starting to ripen up a bit by now!

I have so much in my fridge right now, I have not got a clue what I'll be drinking on Xmas. (Drank Conniston tonight). I view this as a good problem to have. Thanks for all the good trades guys!

I'll probably be drinking some SN Celebration, in addition to the strong scocth ale I brewed for the pub.

I think I'll be drinking Sierra Nevada Celebration.
And maybe a Weyerbacher Raspberry Imperial Stout for dessert!
The christmas eve toast at our house will be with Unibroue Ephemere (can't decide between apple or currant, but the apple should please even the Coors Light Drinkers at the table, I think). We'll replace the champagne toast with this and hope it goes over well!

it will have to be sample of the Maine Brew's...let see...Geary's Porter is a good standby...Gritty McDuff Christmas Ale is a good seasonal amber, full malt flavor, just the right hops..The Gritty's Black Fly Stout is a good beer for trade!....Andrew's English Ale, the list goes on...for a poor state Maine has quite a selection of fine microbrews....

Maine has wonderful beers and lots of them. I love Maine and visit often. My wife and I have been looking at land there for our summer retirement home. Good beer is one of the reasons.

I actually haven't seen the Blackcurrant version in the Paint Store, but I saw it on their site. It's a new release, I'm hoping available in the US.
For now I'm going with the Apple. I agree that it's the best fruit beer i've tasted. I think it'll be a perfect champagne substitute for the toast with the family...

Happy 600th post chaz! :D
I think I'm going to have my Anchor Our Special Ale on Christmas Eve, and a Grant's Deep Powder on Christmas Day. Maybe a Great Divide Hibernation ale as well. Hard to find too many spiced beers here in Nashville, but on a trip to Bowling Green, KY, I found a VERY COOL beer store called Greenwood Spirits Shoppe. By far the best beer store within 150 miles!

Dogfish Head Au Courant just made its way here recently as well. Golden Ale brewed with currants - $7.49/4 pack at the packie. Plenty on the shelf so I passed and grabbed a Double Bastard, Corsendonk Abbey Brown, no Christmas here :( and an Affligem Noel.
Cheers!

Go to the source! Don't they have a pub too? I can remember visiting a brew-pub near Marin back around '94, maybe Sausalito, that was very nice.

Yeah that is what I need to do. Even though it is so clsoe it is one of the most inconvenient places to get to. But now that I have exhausted my other options thats where I shall go!

Oh yeah... forgot to mention that my Worry Wort Porter will be TWO WEEKS OLD on Christmas Day! Guess I'll be having a few of those as well... and GunNut and sfb, you'll see your brews in the mail after the new year!

I'd be interested in how it tastes now. Have you had it in the fridge all along or in your cellar? I am enjoying this years bottled batch but have yet to find it on tap.

This is one of two bottles I bought, one to cellar and one to drink. Unfortunately, I never did get around to drinking it - for SIX years! Yeah, I double checked it after I wrote the last post, it's a '97 - not a '99! I'll let you know how it tastes in a future Tasting Note.
