Guys, I've been A$$ over teakettle busy working for a year, and so have not been on the board much. Anyway here is my latest run and first attempt at a Kilt Lifter Scotch Ale-to be fair I think the Micro tastes smoother, this one is really rich and begging for a juicy Rib Eye BBQ.

Brewed it 12-7-08 and just tasted it going into the keg and it's YUMMY even at 60°.

I would add another ounce of Fuggles to balance the incredibly rich malt character; the Mash schedule was 151° for 20 mins 153° for 40 mins 156° for 30 mins using a HERMS system stiring the Mash every 10-15 mins.

You know, my notes in Promash from 3 months ago ( !! ) say 1.020 but I'm gonna guess it's closer to 1.018 as it sat for so long. When I get home in a few days I'll leave a sample to un carbonate at room temp and check it again

Sorry for the delay folks.....I dont get to work where I live.....

Hydrometer says 1.018 but this beer has a rather heavy mouth feel. Anyone know what the real deal FG is? Still, carbonation has added a rounder impression of the malts and smoked flavors; they blend a bit instead of jumping you as they pass. I think changing the mash for more fermentable sugars or changing the yeast to a strain with higher attenuation to get the gravity down would put this into a very tasty brew.

Just took a break and read the description of Scotch Ales. Maybe I shouldn't change anything!
