All grain is way cheaper once you have the equipment. 10 gallons of all grain costs a little over half the cost of a 5 gallon batch of extract. Of course there will be a lot fo variance depending on your recipe but this is a good average.
The cost associated with setting up an all grain system depends on what you have already.
things you will need are
a liqour pot with spigot for hot water, I use my 8 gallon pot that I used for extract
Sparge arm, you can get a sparge arm from your local brew shop for like 20 dollars
A mash/lauter tun, there are a few choices here. You can get a 10 gallon cooler and convert it to a mash tun or you can use a 10 gallon pot with some sort of heat blanket to keep the heat, you will need to maintain temperature for approximately 70 minutes (give or take depending) price for cooler setup is approximately 120.00 dollars
A boil pot, this should be seperate than your mash tun. approximately 120.00 (another option is to get a stainless keg and cut the top off of it, this can save some money)
I would also suggest that you get a high output stove for this if you dont have one already. Boiling 10 gallons of wort would be a all day long project on the kitchen stove, if you could even get it hot enough. You can get these for around 25.00 at various online shops (not brew shops, they want closer to 80)
There are other things that will make things easier but I am sure you will figure out what those things are as you go. Those things can vary depending on your style.
all grain is very easy and incredibly rewarding. I would suggest that every homebrewer that has even a little bit of interest make the change.
cheers
