the merchant at the not so local homebrew shop gave me this tip for an adhesive for homemade labels on regular paper that he got from a regular customer.
apparently this guy dips his paper labels in milk, then applies them to the bottle and lets them dry.
has anyone ever heard of or tried this method?
if so, how'd it work?
also, for those who make their own labels, do you use a label program, or just photoshop...if there's some cheap software out there i might spend the $20 if it's decent.

Strange, I've heard the same thing but i can't remember from where.... I was told that it not only works well, but they are super easy to remove when done.

I've heard of the milk adhesive as well. I've not tried it, but have heard others say it works pretty good. I use a glue stick myself. Easy to apply and remove. For making labels I use a software program called Printmaster. It's pretty easy to use and you can find it at almost any place that sells software. It comes with thousands of clipart images to use or you can import your own images rather easily. Here's a link to my webpage with labels I've done.

I would be leary of using millk on anything coming near my beer. The same organisms that spoil milk spoil beer. While the beer I am sure would be fine even over the long run, why add fuel to a fire?
The crowns on the bottles are not always airtight and there could be possible contamination from the milk used on the labels.

A friend of mine,
a musician without a regular place to gig,
would put up posters,
around the town,
using a spray bottle filled with evaporated milk,
and a sponge.

i rarely label - mainly due to the inconvenience of de-labeling the bottles. but when i do, i use some free software i found on the net somewhere with plain 3"x4" address labels.

Blue "painters" masking tape and a black sharpie...works everytime.
Wonder where I should post my #200?
