I recently picked up some classic examples of Biere De Garde from st. Sylvestre.

anyone brew similar style of Beire de Garde or have had any examples of significance.

The brews I tried were the 3 monts, as well as Gavroche and their beire d'Hiver.

The BJCP style guidelines lists the following as "commercial examples" of the style:

"Jenlain (amber), Jenlain Bière de Printemps (blond), St. Amand (brown), Ch’Ti Brun (brown), Ch’Ti Blond (blond), La Choulette (all 3 versions), La Choulette Bière des Sans Culottes (blond), Saint Sylvestre 3 Monts (blond), Biere Nouvelle (brown), Castelain (blond), Jade (amber), Brasseurs Bière de Garde (amber), Southampton Bière de Garde (amber), Lost Abbey Avante Garde (blond)"

They are listed in order of closest to style. I like the 3 Monts, and the Gavroche (not on the list). I think my favorites are the Sans Culottes (maybe just becuase I love the name!) ;) And the Jenlain (both).

Another Question would be what would you judge to be good wit beers. Les Brasseurs situated in Montreal have a close association with the Belgium brewers of L'achouffe and they produce beers similar to theirs under a simlar name (D'achouffe for both bruin and blonde styles).

Unibroue's Blanche du Chambly quenches thirst but Cheval Blanc has a bit more body.

Read an article recently in beers of the world that mentioned Blue Moon, any good?

Blue Moon is a Coors product. It is thin and has WAY too much coriander. Hoegaarden on the other hand is a great example of the style

Or Ommegang's Wit -- very nice.

While I agree with Hogie's assessment, and Blue Moon is definitely a Coors product, it's interesting that their marketing has attracted beer drinkers who would normally not drink anything beyond their regular, bland American macro.

I am not a particular fan of any wheat beers, although I will enjoy one occasionally, when the mood strikes.
Going back to the source for the "best" commercial examples (www.bjcp.org):

"Hoegaarden Wit, St. Bernardus Blanche, Celis White, Vuuve 5, Brugs Tarwebier (Blanche de Bruges), Wittekerke, Allagash White, Blanche de Bruxelles, Ommegang Witte, Avery White Rascal, Unibroue Blanche de Chambly, Sterkens White Ale, Bell’s Winter White Ale, Victory Whirlwind Witbier, Hitachino Nest White Ale"

There should be a few there you can get in the Great White North. :D
