I have a case of old 1940's beer bottles with the labels still intact, a little yellow with age tho.
My question is, do any of you have a suggestion on how to fix the labels so I can use them for my brew? I really like their looks and don't want to ruin them if I can help it.
I thought about using some kind of acrylic coating...what do you think?

Luther, did a quick search of the web and could only find big companies. They all loved to coat metal. Maybe a home solution might be shrink wrap? I would test it on other bottles first. If any other off the wall ideas ferment I'll post.

there are lots of people out there who collect beer memorabilia. those bottles might actually get you a fair amount of $$ on ebay or something. I'd be hesitant to use them at all with homebrew.

You are right Sallad. I am a collector and I frequently do business on Ebay as well as attending many breweriana shows and conventions throughout the year. I would like to know what brand of beer was in them? What is the brewery that brewed them? They may indeed be worth something. But we need more information. Please do not use them until you find out if they are rare or collectable. Let me know more and I may be able to give you some history.

Thanks for the info...but I didn't think they were worth much as far as $$...just good old bottles. I got them out of my Uncles' basement after he passed away last year.
The labels read " Fox Deluxe Extra Pale " Peter Fox Brewing Company, Grand Rapids. My boys have the wooden case in there room for an Xbox stand.
My Uncle spent most of his life up there but retired and moved back down here.
