Thanks guys. I do this hobby because I love it, but recognition is never is bad thing either.

What is really bizarre is that I had been waiting over 4 months for the test results. On the same day I got them, about 2 hours later I got an email saying I won Best of Show at a competition in Lethbridge, AB last weekend. It's not a huge competition (typically 50-100 entries), but I have never won a BOS (I have come close 3 times). When it rains, it pours I guess.

Congrats, Marka!! Does that mean we might be judging together at the NHC second round this year?

Maybe one of these years, if they have it a little further north!

However, I am in fact part of the committee running the 1st round qualifier for the Canadian Region.

Cool. Good for you!
IIRC, they have had the NHC in Chicago. Perhaps they could do Minneapolis?
I know there was a big push to have it in Anchorage at one point, but between hotel costs, airfare (which was expected to drop attendance significantly), and logistics of getting things there (they considered a barge to move all the entries for the second and third rounds) it just was not practical.

Wow, 4 months? You're lucky. Took almost 6 to get my results.
Congrats on the BOS, too!

Very cool markaberrant

But, why does it take so freakin'
long to get results?

You have to see the writeups. The graders do an UNBELIEVABLY thorough job on the writeups. The exams get passed back and forth and are checked and rechecked, and these guys do it all on their own time. I can easily see how it takes months. Reading mine was an education in itself.

Way to go Mr. Aberrant. Your success has inspired me to look into the process, but I'm not sure yet how to go about it or if it's even possible to do it out here in the boondocks.
