Recently I was at the LCBO in Pickering, and then Toronto Central and was thrilled at finding Rogue Irish Lager, Brutal Bitter, as well as Trafalgar Tripple Threat strong beer pack. I also got a chance to nip over to the Amsterdam brewery for there newest offering; Strong Spring Bock.

Cheers all.

ahh I've been wnating to try anything from Rogue ales for some time now, I hail from the worst province as far as selection goes but I was visiting the local Brewery here and was able to try their Maple Cream ale before it has been officially released. Also from N.S. I picked up a Garrisons Baltic Porter, been saving this one for a special occaision. Just got back from a trip to Quebec where I was able to pick up some beer I had read about in Farmhouse ales St. Sylvestre being the brewery specific.

Unfortunately we have very lackluster beers in our province and even though they recently brought in some of the fullers selection, there is little else that peaks my interest some of the local breweries produce some excelent english style ales but it is hard to find anything else to note. unfortunately not even a decent Hefe!

There is some great european style beers in Quebec, but I suggest a weeknd beer run the states. Unfortunatly this country has a terribly restrictive system of the sales of alcohol. I have bee places in the states not much bigger then my living room with twice the selection of beer hands down in any province I have been in. I am going on run in the summer shopping, and going to hit this beer store in Buffalo that has a 1000 different beers! Can't wait...

Cheers.

I tried Keiths White yesterday and was somewhat disappointed. It lacked the orange peel and corriander of a Wit and seemed more of a German Wheat - but I didn't detect much wheat malt in it (should have been 40-60%). On the other hand it may have been the yeast strain they used.

I wasn't impressed with Keiths White at all, and wouldn't buy it again. Recently I got my hands on some new editions to the beer supply.

Canada:

- Trafalger Tripple Threat Strong Beer pack: Double IPA, English Barley Wine, and Belgian Triple.
- St. Ambroise Vintage Ale 2009.
- Wellington Strong Ale.
- Magnotta True North IPA, Strong Ale, Altbier, Cream Ale, Wonder Weisse, and Blonde Lager. (All very good, IPA was my fav.)

USA:

- Land Shark Lager.
- Budweiser Ameican Ale.
- Sam Adams Winter Ale.
- Blue Moon Spring Ale.

U.K:

- Innis and Gunn Oak Aged Blonde Ale.

Always nice to have a good variety of beers you have never tried.

Side note:  Booo to the Alberta Government for raising sin taxes to steal 170 Million $ from the pockets of Albertans...

Just split a bottle of Brew dog's "The Physics." It is a light brown ale, much like a Scottish, but much hoppier, and oak aged. 5% ABV. Nice beer, if you like extreme. Big hops and big oak character, with a mild but significant malt behind it.

Hum, didn't realise that Innis and Gunn was Canadian?

Was at the Rhino on Friday for the CABA (Cdn. Amateur Brewers Assoc.) mtg.
and had County Durham's Hop Addict on cask - very good, they also make another hop bomb in bottle. I believe it's called Hop Head, but not sure.

Steve - the owner (along with his father) of Beau's brewery outside of Ottawa was there and brought a keg of "Bog Myrtle". It uses a plant by the same name picked for them by a native indian instead of hops. Very good beer. All their beers are organic. Their flagship is called Lug Head and is a Kolsch believe it or not. Their philosophy is to brew styles that no one else in Ontario is brewing. Can't wait to try Lug Head.

Did anyone attend the grand opening of the new Black Oak brewery on Saturday? It was free admission, free food and of course - free beer. Didn't make it myself as I only heard about it on Friday. If I'd gone to Cass' website www.bartowel.com more often I would have known about it.

Lastly - I recently subscribed to Taps - Canada's beer magazing. It's very good. They also have audio and video podcasts featuring Mirella Amato from beerology.com, she's also a CABA member.

by the way - support Canadian businesses, buy your ingredients at homebrewersretail.com. I just got in some candi sugar that should be posted on the site soon.

O'Hara's stout. I think it's only available in Ireland, but if you find yourself there, do yourself the favor of tracking this one down. This is the "black stuff" with some solid flavor to back it up. The big "G" seemed flat and almost lifeless after a few pints of O'Hara's.

I have very definitely seen it in several stores in my area.

Found the diacetyl a little too high on the one I tried.

You can get the O'Hara Celebration Stout in Manitoba. 6% dry stout. Super dry and super bitter. I though it was too much, you have to drink it at damn near room temp for the harshness to go away (I started drinking my 750ml bottle at 50F).
