So, I upgraded to the iPhone about a week ago, and I was wondering what apps other beer geeks may have on theirs. Right now the only one I have is the BJCP guidelines app, but one I'd love to find is some sort of quick reference that shows proper glassware depending on the style. If I had a clue about creating an app, I would do so, but I am PC. :)

So what other beer apps would you recommend? Right now I'm sticking with free apps, just because I spent my discretionary money on the phone, so nothing is left at the moment to buy apps. lol

Any apps people find for the G1 GooglePhone would also be welcome. :)

Just open the app Store on your phone and search for beer. There are several, although most of them are crap IMHO.

that's why I asked here. :) I did such a search, but it brings up everything from Beer Pong to Night Vision. lol Just was curious what others found useful or that they thought were not crap, as the couple I did load I also thought were crap and they were immediately taken off.

Well narrowing it down to useful, I've found none. Although I've not had a chance to try Sparge Pal, I doubt it will replace BeerSmith on my PC. Another I will try while in Florida next week is Beer Me LITE, and I'll try to let you know what I think of it at that time.

lol yeah, I tried a couple of them, they just didn't do anything for me. I live by the beer mapping project when I go out-of-town, I'd love to see an app for that. Though with full internet pages, I can get by looking there. I looked at the Beer Me LITE, but there was something I didn't like about it, so I deleted it right away. Funny thing is, I think I only deleted it because it didn't have the one feature I was looking for at the moment, so it got the axe without getting a fair shake.

Beerme got deleted quickly as it was quite useless.

yeah, it lasted on my phone about 45 minutes, if it was lucky.

My sister has one that lists something like 1200 different beers.

interesting to scroll through a the very least.

I am in fact of the very few who don't still have a cell phone, holding out as long as possible. Not yet an established member of the comunity so not entirely neccesary at the moment.

I think I had that one too. It got deleted very quickly also. There was a default beer list that couldn't be edited and I didn't care for the macro brewery BS.

There are some good home brewing podcasts though.

brewmath is a brewing app by the guy who does BeerAlchemy for the mac. if I had an iPhone or touch I would probably end up buying it as it would be easier to use while sitting in the garage and brewing

All,

I work for a restaurant group that recently opened a draught emporium. We are looking to create an app that satisfies some of the goals that current beer apps do not.

So, what type of specs can you recommend?

Interface suggestions? Content suggestions? Please offer any advice you can, and we'll try to make something that is useful both for our guests and for beer lovers at large.
