Anyone have a good Corona clone recipe? SWMBO wants me to make something she will like. I know that you won't often see the words "good" and "Corona" used in the same sentence, but she digs it. Extract,
Ex. w/grains, partial mash, AG, whatever...Gotta keep her happy.

I can't answer the Corona clone question, but here is an idea. Try a blonde ale (or blonde ale like beer) instead. It's the type of beer you get BMC drinkers to drink. I made it and my wife, a Bud Light gal, loved it.
Simple AG:
9lbs 2 row
1lb of some non-caramel specialty grain (I used 1lb honey malt)
.5lb Carapils for head retention/body
IBUs at 20 or less
152 mash temp
Wyeast 1056 for a nice, clean fermentation profile.
You can't get much simpler than this.

Edit to JayShaw's recipe:
Bottle in clear glass. Expose to a day's worth of direct sunlight.

Not that I'm questioning you, but i thought light was bad for beer. Could you explain? Anything I can learn about brewing will help in the long run.

He's making a joke; Skunk it in the sun to get the "authentic" mexican Corona flavor.

I think that's a recipe requirement for green bottle imports. ;) I think Corona uses hop extract treated so that it will not skunk... I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Heineken skunks theirs at the brewery since I've never had one that wasn't and understand that's what the yuppies apparently equate with 'Import'. :)

Draft or canned Heineken is not skunked.

A side by side of canned and green bottle Heinekin shows that underneath all that skunk is a very well made beer (though the style sucks).
At the Siebel tasting seminar at the GABF in October, the skunked sample that they passed out was Corona. For the control samples, bottles were drawn from an unopened box case. For the skunked samples, bottles were drawn from open six packs that were just left on the store shelf. Nothing special here. The difference between the 2 was amazing (and appalling).

Goes to show how much I know! :D
Better off sticking with the homebrew... keep the carboy in the dark and then keg. The only skunks around here are the ones wandering around outside.

At our BJCP class last spring, one member left a big bottle of corona out in the sun for 15 minutes. When he opened it at the class, I could smell the skunk from across the room.

I usually do something similar for BJCP classes my self. I scour the local stores to find the freshest "born on date" Bud I can find, then set it in the sun for an afternoon.
It makes the point that regardless of how fresh the beer is, it can still be bad if not handled well.
