I'm not sure if this is the right thread, but here goes:
I go to take my pepsi keg apart to clean it, only to find out I now need a 9/16 crescent wrench. I got one at Home Depot, but for a fortune of $14 !!! The other keg post is the same size, 9/16, but I could use my adjustable wrench. So now I'm wondering, can I just get two of the same posts so than I can return the crescent wrench, and from now on use only my adjustable? Furthermore, will an adjustable wrench suffice for everything else, ie I know it fits the regulator, and I just don't want to have to spend $14 on "special" tools to have them around if they only serve to loosen and tighten one nut. I thought they made adjustable wrenches to combat this very situation.

Danno,

That's a good link, but it's just that I have an adjustable wrench, and don't want anything more. If I don't need a crescent wrench for anything else but that one post, then I'll get a regular post, return the wrench, and always use only my adjustable wrench for everything. Good thinking though on the socket set.

The "nuts" are two different sizes as one is for gas and one is for liquid only. If you notice each one will only fit a certain color (Usually grey and black) ball lock on it. That is so you wont confuse your liquid line for gas and end up with product in your gas lines.

I would find it difficult to use a crescent wrench on corny posts, I don't think there's enough room to properly maneuver. I'd just be afraid to round off my posts using anything other than a socket or a box wrench...

The "nuts" are two different sizes as one is for gas and one is for liquid only. Brewmonkey, that's not entirely accurate. The visual difference between a gas-in and a liquid-out post on a corny is the notch. If you have different sized posts, they've been mixed up. I have Cornelius kegs with different sized posts, but they've always matched sizes on a single keg. Here's a pic, these are all gas-in posts, because they're notched...

If you have the proper corny fittings on, a gas ball lock should not fit on a liquid side and vice versa IIRC.

I will have to mark this day...this is the first time I have ever seen a man with a legitimate excuse to go and buy more tools and he doesn't want to...excuse me while I cry.:(
