Just picked up some Bah Humbug Christmas Ale from Wychwood. Always a Christmas favourite of mine. I noticed though the LCBO is carrying a 5% ABV example of this great beer. Last year it was 5.3%, and 6% the year before that. Can't say I like it when recipes are changed...
Also on the menu:
- Samichlaus Classic - 14% Abv... this is a destroyer of a beer.
- Boreale - Blonde, Noire, Rouse, Curve.
- PC Lager.
- Moosehead Lager.
- Barley Days Cherry Ale.
- St. Peter's Pale Ale & Golden Ale.
- Blue Moon Pumpkin Ale.
- Chimay Red.
- Steelback Dark, Red, Copperhead.
Decent mix...
Cheers and a very Merry Christmas/New Years to all on RB!

So far I have had Great Lakes Christmas Ale (sixtel in my kegerator), St. Nikolaus Bock from Penn, SN Celebration and my homebrewed Christmas beer made last year that's a weizenbock with honey, cinnamon and orange peel added.

I've got nothing for seasonal brews at this point, but I should have a good stock after this week. I did make a homebrewed Dopplesticke Alt that should be ready just in time for xmas. I'll also be in Dallas later this month, so I'm hoping grab lots of great seasonals... including SN Celebration. I've never tried the beer, but I won a t-shirt last april and wore it for the first time this weekend.

I think I'm going to try the Mill Street Barly wine this holiday and of course the traditional homebrewed Christmas Ale (2 kegs).

I would recommend drinking an 07 (or earlier) Mill St barleywine this christmas, and buy some 08 for drinking next year.

That is an excellent idea! I'll have to see what year(s) it is.

I picked up a magnum of Anchor's OSA for our new years party. Don't need fizzy frog wine to be able to pop the top on a big bottle at midnight.

Just returned from Cincinnati and stopped by the Hofbrauhaus in Newport. I had their Christmas beer (Weinachts bier) that was listed as an amber lager with rich hops or something to that effect. I didn't think the hops description fit. It struck me as somewhere between a Helles and a Maibock, with hops barely enough to balance the sweetness. Don't get me wrong, not an unpleasant beer, it just didn't match the description for me.
I'll look forward to the one being built in Pittsburgh. I would like to try some of their monthly specials.
