Hi Folks, I am gathering ingredients for an Irish Red Ale. The recipe calls for 6 oz. of 300L roasted barley (RB). Is it accurate, in color and flavor, to substitute a proportionately smaller amount of 560L RB? My guess is probably not but close enough. Your help is greatly appreciated. JimG

Whoa!! Stop!!!.... 6 oz would make it more black than red... go with 2 oz max.

Thanks Otis! To be clear.... 6 oz. of 300L is too much color? Want to use 2 oz of 300L?

Yes. it doesn't take much to color up a beer using those dark roasted malts.
