Four years ago I acquired a canadian redvine hop rhizome for homegrowing here in Chicago. It's always been a good grower and producer. Thus far my research shows that, at least commercially, it has been replaced with better hops. Does anyboby know anything about this hop variety, why it replaced and with what?

When was it replaced? I would imagine if it is a domestic variety, it has been replaced with with the American 'C' hops. How can you describe the Redvine hop? I wonder if that is the hop seen I frequently see on ebay as 'red hops'

My research indicates that the redvine hop was probably discontinued because it contain a large quantity of cohumulene, contributing to a harshness in beer.
