From http://www.olddominion.com/olddominionpub.shtml
Coastal Brewing Company has decided to close the Old Dominion Brewpub in Ashburn, VA, which the company acquired in 2007 with the acquisition of Virginia-based craft brewer Old Dominion Brewing Company.*
The brewpub closing is effective August 25, 2008.
The closing of the brewpub will allow Old Dominion Brewing Company to focus on its primary objective - producing authentic, high-quality craft beers and sodas.
This decision will have no impact on other operations of Coastal Brewing Company. Brands under both the Old Dominion and Fordham names will continue to be distributed and marketed along the east coast of the U.S.*
We apologize for any convenience this may cause.
Thank you.

They still have been making some great beer despite all of the takeover mess. The Beach House Pils was a staple at my house this summer. I will say that I am worried. Wonder what is next? I, like others on DC-Beer, am sad I won't be able to fill growlers any longer.

I've been enjoying the Octoberfest as well. Does sort of make you wonder who (or what) is driving the ship. I could never make it, but it seemed the monthly "taste from the taps" were well-attended and a great promotional vehicle. I may never have tried the Beach House Pils if I had read raves about it from brewpub visitors.

I never made the 1st Wednesday events either even though I live fairly close by. The reviews on DC-Beer really made it sound great. I am worried that things will deteriorate and it may end up effecting the beer. I also wonder about whether some of the AB distro / investment partners will be spun off by Inbev.

I find it hard to care about ODBC anymore. First they get in bed with AB, then they jettison the best brews they made (Tuppers, New River, many seasonals), then instead of being easier to find because of AB the brews are harder to find and it's only ever the Lager. The brewpub seemed to be part of the old charm of the place that many still gave their custom to. Well that's gone now as well. What are we left with? OD Lager occasionally?
The two times I found OD's Beach House this year I have to say it was stunning.

I too found the Beach House Pils to be excellent, reminiscent, to me, of Chesbay Gold.
But does no one find it puzzling that, after refusing to continue brewing Hop Pocket Pils, my household staple, they then come out with a speciality beer that's almost as good? Maddening.

Yessir. I have 75 or more. Not only do I have Old Dominion growlers I have the coozies that wrap around them. I always liked the OD growlers because they have the stamped ceramic tops and are not just generic. Baltimore Brewing also had the logoed tops. Jeff, you can get em filled at Sweetwater Taverns, Vintage 50, Cap City Shirlington, Franklins, Rock Bottom Ballston and most other local brewers outside of DC.

Nope - From all over. I even have one from THe Orange which was a London Brewpub where Nick Funnell used to work coincidentally.
I usually keep a few in my car in case I happen by a brewery.

Blue & Gray will fill them for you if you get down F'burg way, they don't care who's logo is on it.

Sad day indeed, 1st Jerry Leaves, Fordham buys, Festival dies and now no more brewpub. I can easily foresee a future without drinking another Dominion product outside of a beerfest or recommended by one of you. I will definitely miss the pub despite the low level of service it was a cornerstone for my early beer discovery days.
