I noticed a white skin on top of my beer in secondary this afternoon. Don't think it was there yesterday. The airlock was secure, and I didn't fish out any to taste. The beer smells like beer. It was in primary for 7 days and this is day 3 in secondary. It might be getting some indirect sunlight which is the only real difference from previous brews.

It's hard to tell from those pictures but I think I see some stringy filaments in the second picture. That's not good unless you're brewing a wild ale. Really all you can do at this point is taste it. I would let it sit a couple of weeks in secondary. If the film gets thicker or more rope-like I would taste it before I went to all the trouble to bottle it. It could be nothing, it might be CO2 bubbles, it's a little early to know.

I'm with Corky. The picture looks like it might be something other than Krausen, but its hard to tell. It won't hurt to let it go until you know for sure.

While there is still what looks like a grayish-white film on top, i haven't noticed any strands, and now there are lots of very small bubbles and a moderate amount of larger bubbles extending from it, so I assume it's yeast activity. Since I don't bottle anyway, I will just keg it this weekend and see if it turned out OK or not.
