I will be in downtown Denver from Aug. 6-11 for the World Science Fiction Convention and I am looking for recommendations for good local beer. I will be staying at the Sheraton (formerly Adams Mark). Friends have already recommended Falling Rock Tap House.

from the Sheraton/former Adams mark, you could walk up to Colfax and hit The Cheeky Monk. Moderate walk, short cab ride. (3-4 blocks, hotel to Colfax and Broadway, then 5 blocks on Colfax to Colfax and Pearl. Not a short walk if you're coming from sea level, but a VERY short cab ride) Good selection of Belgians, on tap, proper glassware, plus a whole lot more in bottles.
I'd try Great Divide for sure. Sandlot (at Coors Field) makes some excellent GABF winning lagers. I'm a fan of Breckenridge--also a block or two away from Coors Field-- but prefer the more out-of-the-way (for you) 471 Kalamath location. The original Rock Bottom, at 1001 16th St [Name came from the fact that it was on the first floor of the (then) Prudential Building and was a play on Prudential's former slogan, "Own a Piece of the Rock") in Denver--now there's like dozens of Rock Bottoms around the country]. Their sister brewery, the Chop House, also down by Coors Field.
All of these (except for Kalamath St Breckenridge) are downtown...there's dozens more options if you venture further afield.
Falling Rock and Flying Dog.

Thanks for the recommendations. Some friends and I may try the Cheeky Monk on Sunday the 10th.

Went to Wynkoop Wednesday night. I thought that the ESB was excellent and I also enjoyed the Graveyard (scottish ale). Unfortunately, I found the IPA somewhat disappointing.
