I'm thinking of getting some brewing software and i was wondering what everyone thinks is the best one out there. Also, does anybody know which ones are Mac compatible?

BeerAlchemy

www.beeralchemy.com

used it for about two years and very happy with it. The developer, Steve, is very responsive and has worked with me to fix a number of issues I've had.

p.s. welcome! to another mac brewing member!

Last I knew promash and beersmith offer free trial versions.
Go through the tutorials and play around with them.
I use beersmith.

ah, but promash is not mac compatible, at least natively. might be able to run it via parallels or crossover, but haven't tested it.

i've heard good things about beersmith too

Awe crap, I blew right over the Mac part.
The Promash website says " (compatible with Mac using Virtual PC, and Linux using Wine) "
I'm not sure about Beersmith the website doesn’t say anything and I'm not very Mac savvy.
I actually liked some of the features on Promash better than Beersmith, particularly the separation of recipes and brew sessions. Beersmith had a more familiar user interface, and then I stumbled on a loop hole in the trial version. So, it grew on me. :D
To be honest I hardly use it anymore. I've found a notepad and pencil work best for me.
For a Mac user Beeralchamy looks like a good choice.

Thanks guys, I wish ProMash was compatible, I've heard lots of good things about it. Maybe I can download the free trial at work on my pc there. My boss will wonder why I'm putting in so many hours, maybe I'll get a raise?!

Weigh all of them...I found beersmith to be better. Bob E, I like the way termed that a 'loophole'.....

Am I the only one that uses the free on-line Recipator?
