anybody have any suggestions on what I can do to improve clarity in my finished beers?
out of the chiller and into the fermenter, crystal clear.. after fermentation, cloudy.
the porter for example, I went down to pull a sample for gravity readings. turbid. put it in the fridge to force cool, took it out after 1/2 hour or so, you can see the layer of gunk on the bottom, but the beer is still not clear.. turbid is the only thing I can think of. .. altho murky does come to mind. this is the same porter that went ballistic all over the place and that was quite clear. but now suddenly it seems that it is not.
any ideas?

btw, flavor was outstanding.. just wish it were a little clearer.. I do have the setup to filter, I could also use finings of some sort.. I just would like to get clearer beer to start

I'm a huge fan of whirfloc, one tab per 5 gallons of beer for 15-20 at the end of the boil.

Whirfloc. And never move your beer or disturb it.

I always use irish moss..
after the boil, after cooling the wort was crystal clear. but after fermentation, it's cloudy.. go figure

I'm guessing there is still lots of yeast in suspension.

for the porter, agreed. I also have an amber ale, been in keg now for about a week. same thing.. kind of a murky amber/brown color. you can not see thru a glass of it. yet after chilling, it was crystal clear
