I just put down a 24oz Full Sail Wreck The Halls. Good stuff!

I didn't know I was supposed to like IPA's this much. In fact, I didn't like I liked any IPA's. As it turns out, I guess not only Wreck The Halls but also Sierra Nevada Celebration are actually IPA's.

Are these different from the typical IPA? Or is this just the result of us americans distorting what IPA really means?

Lastly, what does anyone else think of the Wreck The Halls? I'm sure some of you have had it.

I had one of the 22 oz bottles last weekend. It was the 2002 release. It was my first time having it and I loved it! Lots of hop flavor along with the usual hop bitterness. Also plenty of malt to keep if from being unbalanced. I heard the 2003 was a bit more hoppy. Unfortunately, here in MN this beer is not available. Thanks to batkins for the trade!;)

i read somewhere (heh, might have even been on this forum, but i think it was at beerhunter.com) that american IPAs tend to be significantly more hoppy than the traditional form.

American IPA's are very much hoppier then their British counterparts and you will even see a difference in American IPA's from the West Coast over the East coast, with the West coast IPA's showing a lot more hop character and bitterness then their Eastern cousins.

I agree with that Brewmonkey. One needs to prepare himself for the level of hops in most west coast offerings. I consider myself a hophead but have been stunned at many of those west coast IPAs.
