I'm trying to get my wife to drink something other than coors light, so far i have batted 0 trying to get her to like something else.
So what I'm looking for is something that may taste 'sorta like' coors light but hopefully better. Probably have to be a lager of some kind, and has to be something I can get in the Tulsa,OK area.

Thanks.

If it were me, I'd step to Amstel Light first then on to Sam Adams Light.

I know from experience that Amstel actually has some flavor and have heard that the Sam Light is a decent beer all around. After that, you can move her up to some labels with even more flavor.

Thanks, I'll try Amstel, I've tried Sam Adams light on her; she didn't like it. I may have to do a blind taste test, she may only think she doesn't like 'good' beer.

You may be surprised. Try getting her to have a few sips (minimum 3) of a sweeter stout or porter. Something like a Oatmeal Stout. Sometimes, women who think they don't like beer have never tried a dark beer, or have only had dry, hoppy ones. They can be pleasantly surprised by a sweeter dark beer. Scottish ales or even Strong Scotch ales can work to.

My wife drank(and loved)Shiner Bock for years before I poured one into a glass for her and she realized it was a dark beer. And she loves my oatmeal stout from an opaque mug, but she really hates dark beer:D .

+1. Much as I hate to say this, I wouldn't recommend having her try a stout or a porter just yet, especially if she's the type who eats with her eyes. Stick with the lighter fare, and allow HER to come to the conclusion that she likes to drink something for the flavor factor.

Some people like things like Coors Light simply because it reminds them of days past, like college, or what-have-you. In this case, you're better off not saying a word and allowing her that sentimental attachment. Oftentimes if you push at all, they push back twice as hard. Kinda like a stubborn mule. ;)

My wife absolutely hates beer...can't stand the smell or taste and I've tried close to a hundred beers on her. Thank got along the way I found that she loves good hard ciders and mead, but anyways...I've had a small succsess with lambics and fruit-wheat beers. You could try one of those...not close to Coors Lite but women always seem to veer toward fruit flavored things.

My GF isn't a beer-drinker at all either, but she enjoys a Bavarian Hefeweizen once in a while (Franziskaner, Hacker-Pschorr, Weihenstephan, Trader Joe's). I think it's because the flavor character is different than a usual "beer," more interesting and complex in many ways.

Belgian Wits could be a way to go too -- try the New Belgian Mothership or Allagash (some would say Blue Moon, but I think Coors overdoes the character).

Then again, why push her to something she may not like?

You know, if the title of this thread is correct, and you really want to get her something like Coors Light...
Why don't you just give her a glass of water?

Hah -- I knew someone would cross that line sooner or later. :D

I was just reading some comments about New Belgium brewing over at BeerAdvocate and someone mentioned that their Skinny Dip is a nice, lighter beer with good flavor. Never tried it, maybe Fret or others can comment?

It's a nice, light beer for a hot day. Kind of like a blonde ale with just a hint of lime leaf to it.

It's an excellent beer for what it is, I consider it a lawn mower beer. I started a thread to compare the beer from this year to last. Last year it tasted similar to Fat Tire but this year it seems to have slipped more to a wheat beer.

I have had success converting some of the natty light set in my family with Full sail session lager, Saint Arnolds fancy lawnmower ale, and Sweetwater blue.

Skinny Dip is an excellent brew; however it is rather hoppy and bitter for someone who doesn't want to put down their Coors Light just yet. Not for you or me, of course, but...

I like Steve's idea: Go with the Amstel Light, and a few very mild witbiers.

And Beerking, maybe an alcoholic water would be the way for her to go, yes? ;)

She does the like the occasional margarita (as long as it is the mix). I tried to make her one with Cointreau and freshly squeezed lime juice and she hated it. So it may be a lost cause on trying to get her to drink a 'better' beer. I really don't care if she drinks Coors light, i would just like to find something we could both enjoy.

Sounds like you'll need to have two taps on your kegerator.

Michelob Ultra Light is typically good with the ladies. I know it's really a lateral move beer-wise, but it is different !!

Find a cream ale and Go with it!
In Ellensburg, WA, there's a brewery called Iron Horse that has a cream ale. They call it a "gateway beer".
Couldn't agree more with it.
