Does anyone here know anyone who works at Christian Moerlein in Cincinnati. I had read that they are looking to do an expansion and would like to find out if they are hiring. PMs are fine.

Thanks

Do they actually own/operate a brewery? Thought they were contract brewed, possibly in Frederick, MD? Could always browse probrewer.com for classifieds/job postings.

Christian Moerlein was owned by Hudepohl-Schoenlein brewery, which went out to contractors when Sam Adams bought the Cincinnati plant. Someone bought Christian Moerlein out and is producing it in Cincinnati now. There was an article in the local paper about an expansion.

Did Hardman- new owner of the old Hudepohl-Schoenling brands- open a brewery already?

Every article I've read ( like this one (http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080509/BIZ01/305090016/1076/BIZ) and this older one (http://citybeat.com/2006-10-04/cover.shtml) ) notes that, while he WANTS to open a Cincinnati brewery, the beers are still being contracted out to The Lion:

"Though brewed in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., by contract, the Moerlein family of products will soon be sold across the Midwest." -- "Moerlein reviving Cincinnati beer", Cincinnati Enquirer, Friday, May 9, 2008

IIRC, some of the other brands, liked canned Burger and Hudepohl, may be from City (tho' that might have been back in the Snyder International ownership era since Frederick in MD. had no canning line), and some draught has been locally contract-brewed at Heritage Brewing Co. in Cinci.

You are correct. I was under the impression that they had a brewery in town. I had read part of the May 9th story, but didn't read that far down. :o

How did you find those articles in the Enquirer. I've never been able to find anything by searching.

they have been contract brewing Moerlein products in PA (at Lion) and also here locally with Barrelhouse.

unfortunately the latter has lost it's brewmaster (to Ommegang) and has rumors of closing.
