Cask in Phoenix?

My sister, who lives in Phoenix, has been visiting in Chicago for the last 2 weeks, and we took her to some nice bars and restaurants. She tells me that there are no bars in Phoenix with cask conditioned beer. Is that true? I am skeptical!

BTW, as a Diamondbacks fan, she saw all three games in Wrigley this weekend, and she's not in the best mood right now! ;)

I don't know Phoenix bars, but I think it is probable. People are generally less aware of the existance of cask-conditioned ales in the SouthWest.

I knew it! I will let her know. She is just getting into good beer and seemed to love some really good Belgian style beer that we had in Chicago. I will tell her about those places. Which would you recommend? We have a Rock Bottom in Chicago, and that's not one of my favorite places, but it's certainly good. I do think they tend to vary, though, because I've had some excellent Rock Bottom beer in other places.

The cask beers at Rock Bottom are not the chain beers. They let the master brewer brew something personal. The RB at Arrowhead normally offers an IPA on cask. I beleive the Sonora on Camelback just tapped a barleywine on cask. Belgians will probably be found at the Papago.

Now I wish I would have asked this when I was visiting my 2 sisters in February. We visited Scottsdale, and I stayed with my other sister (who unfortuately will only drink Miller Lite) who lives in Glendale. They took me to the Yard House, but of course we have one of those close to me in the Chicago suburbs. My sisters seemed to indicate that the Yard House is "as good as it gets" in Phoenix for beer.
