So I needed some bottles a few weeks ago for my first batch and decided why not try some of the different kinds of Sam Adams, got some White Ale and the Cherry Wheat (hated it by the way)
So I finally read about the recall and decided to check my bottle and sure enough about 24 of them are the affected ones. I washed brushed and sanitized them all thoroughly but still, do you guys think there's really anything to worry about, it was only about 1-5% of the bottles affected anyway. but out of 24 thats a good chance at least one is gonna be defective?
i obviously didn't get sliced up drinking the stuff originally right?

I have a ton of Sam Adams bottles, and haven't had a problem. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it, but I am cheap and that's what I'm going to do.

Someone suggested filtering their beer through a coffee filter first. Personally, it's not worth the risk, but YMMV.

If I understand the recall correctly, once you have emptied the bottles, and certainly after they have been washed and rinsed, there is no more problem. Presumably and glass shards already either went down the drain, or down you gullet when you drank the beer.
Be advised, SA bottles are not legal for entereing competitions, since the raised lettering can be an identifying mark on the bottles you enter.

really? I used them last year in the Longshot competition. :) I do know that some of their bottles don't have the raised letters, though. But I did use them, thought it would be fun to enter my beer in Sam Adams bottles (with raised letters) to the Sam Adams contest. lol

I am referring primarily to the large BJCP competitions, where printed bottles, raised letters and caps that are not blacked out are generally taboo.
Presumably, SA doesn't mind you using their own bottles. I know the will probably be disqualified from earning a ribbon if you send them to the NHC (they will likely still get judged in the first round, but won't be eligible to advance).
