What German imports are available in your area of Texas? In the Dallas area the best stores with the widest selection are Whole Foods and Central Market. They have just about the same inventory of Paulaner and Hofbrau and Lowenbrau as everyone else.

Are there any better places to shop in this area? Should I drive to Austin or Houston for a wider selection?

The Central Market in Plano used to have a pretty darn good selection. Been a while since I have been there. Also, there was a Stegal's in Addison that had a good selection as well, but I know that it has been three years since I have been to that place as well.

I was just in Plano not too long ago and found a place called Kegs and Barrels ( I think that was it) If I remember correctly, it was on 15th st. just west of Custer. They had a pretty big selection of beers from all over, including belgian ales. I did not dally there long enough to look closely at their German beers, as I was in a hurry to get a six of Fuller's London Porter and scoot off to an engagement I was near late for. That is all I can offer though. Hope it helps.:)

The main Specs store in downtown Houston is good and worth a trip, any Specs for that matter is Ok. But it may not be all that different from Dallas.

I gotta say, last time I was in Specs I was a little disappointed at their beer selection, but it was in Conroe so I guess I shouldn't have expected too much.
