Unhopped?

Has anybody ever brewed an unhopped beer? If so what did it taste like? My guess is that it would be a bit sweeter. I am thinking of doing this in the traditional old english way.

I always thought that an unhopped beer would qualivy as a "malt liquor," Isn't there a brand called Olde English 800?

I know Scotch ales are almost hop free....

Malt liquor is the term for a lager that usually exceeds 5% and does not refer to an unhopped production.
