While Moosehead is a little bit basic for my palette, this is the beer that started me on the path of the finer beers in life. It does have a special place in my heart and is considerably better (to me) than Labbatt and Molson. I probably haven't drank a Moosehead in about six months and one of the reasons is because they end up getting skunky in my area though even though some convenience stores carry them. My local beer store had them on sale for $10 a twelve pack, so I bought one. While ten bucks for a twelve of Moosehead won't make the top five of the "deal of the decade" it does mean, the store probably has sold quite a few of these and it will likely be fresh.
I was absolutely right. I poured my first one and it had the nice golden color and white head, but the fragrance was nice and clean and slightly fruity. This is a 6 out of 10 beer on everything and won't knock anyone's socks off, but for a light Lager on a hot summer day (or slightly cool November night for that matter) this is still one of the better (if not the best) macro lagers made in North America. Some people tend to find it very similar to the Molson and Labbatt offerings, but to me, this is two steps above either. Cheers !! I am enjoying this brew, but it might be a while before I make it through all twelve.
