My son informed me tonight that he needs to know the price of a 6 pack of Bud for (get this) a school project.

Can anyone help me out????

Thanks!

I think I remember buying Bud 8 packs in 8oz. bottles in 1984 for $2.35.

It's all fuzzy and a long time ago, don't ask how I remember.

I'm like rain man sometimes! haha I'm only 14 years off also!

Hmm. Overpriced even then, I see...

I guess at the time we didn't drink for taste, but effect!

What was the cheapest beer to buy, and Bud it was! Oh, to be 18 again!

The first time I ever visited the USA (1979) I tried very hard to get squiffy on Bud and failed. I just couldn't drink it fast enough for the alcohol to get into my system more quickly than it was being metabolised. (You will understand that, as a Limey, I was having to wait for it to reach what was, for me, a dinkable temperature)

I was quite surprised to learn that is is supposed to be 5% ABV; I would have reckoned it at around 3% or less. Since that time, hating the taste and not even getting the benefit of the effect, I have always avoided the concoction.

To get drunk you must consume rapidly.

That is why those wacky college kids invented the funnel with the long hose. Fill the funnel & hose, insert into mouth, let the large volume of beer invade your stomach! haha

I think, in the absence of some good English Ale (I have drunk a pint of that in under 5 seconds - several times) I would stick to Scotch!

The stomach washout I'll leave until I get to hospital.

I gotta agree with Richard on this one!

I did drink a 6-pack of Grolsch in an hour once, um, 20 years ago. I had foam coming outta my nose! Blech!

Two points:

Yes, the US Bud DID taste awful - but I assumed that was how it was supposed to taste.

There has been much discussion on this board about good English beers and the concensus seems to be that it is difficult, if not impossible, to get them on draught in most parts of the USA. However, there are several good Bottle-Conditioned Ales (BCAs) available and my personal recommendation is Fuller's 1845. I know that Young's Special London Ale and Hog's Back T.E.A. are also sold over there and are both excellent BCAs.

Check on the OBBD - http://www.bottledbeer.co.uk/ - for a good resume of most of the world's bottled beers with links to the breweries' websites.

Not at real ale temps! It's supposed to be near freezing - so you *can't* taste it! ;)
