How long in primary?

How long will beer last in the primary before it goes bad?

i read somewhere here someone had one in for a month........I wouldnt take the chances though can cause alot of off flavors

I've had beer in primary for a month. It was bigger beer at lower ferm temps. I don't get a lot of break material in my primary. It took almost two week to get to my FG and then I left it in a little over two weeks to clean itself up. It was fine.

I ferment most of my beers on the cool side, and I'm now skipping secondaries altogether, so 1 month primary for a big beer is just about right. For my smaller beers (say under 1.070), I'm going with a 2 week primary.

i have found that three weeks in the primary for a normal beer works best for me. From there it gets bottled for three weeks.
