I've been drinking some SKA beers (Durango CO) - I got a 12 pack sampler. I thought their Pinstripe Red and True Blonde were not very good. However, I just tried their Ten Pin Porter and was very impressed. It's one of the best porters I've had in a while. Here are my notes:

Poured a dark ruby brown with a smallish tan head that diminished pretty quickly. It had a nice strong malty, chocolatey aroma with hints of coffee. It had a nice full body, with a full roasted malt (with hints of chocolate) taste with a nice hop balance and a slightly bitter finish. Very good tasting, but could have been a little bolder. Overall, I was very impressed with this beer. One of the better porters I can remember tasting, I'll definitely be purchasing this one again!

Anyone else sample any of their beers?

I'm very curious about them! Aren't they from Durango?

I had heard that they were going to sell one of their beers in a CAN. Have you had any of those? I know that you can get Dale's Pale Ale from Oskar Blues in a can - even had it once - and I wondered if it would have been better served to have been served in a bottle...

Have you had Sierra Nevada Porter? THAT'S my benchmark for porters. How did the 10 pin compare to that? (If you haven't had a SN Porter, go over to Aggie Discount on Mulberry and get some...;) )

Yep they're from Durango. I haven't seen any of theirs in a can. I have tried Dale's Pale Ale though, and was pleasantly suprised.

I've had SN Porter, but it was a LONG time ago, and I don't remember it at all. I acutally haven't had any SN for a long time. I'll have to buy some soon.

I've never been to Aggie Discount. How are their prices and selection? I've been going to Liquor Depot most of the time. I used to go to Fish's, but they overcharged me a lot of the time, so I quit going there.

Selection is by far the best in town. Mulberry between College and Shields.

Beaver? You been out to Aggie yet? Tell me what you thought....

...and let me know if you can find Left Hand Imperial Stout in bomber bottles - let's see if we can make a trade of sorts!

Not yet Fret. I've been in MI watching UM spank OSU! :)

I'll try to head over there soon. I think my next stop is going to be the Fort Collins Brewery though. They have a new smoked lager on tap that I want to get a growler of.

I finally went to Aggie. I got some Chimay Blue and a 6 of Stone Pale Ale. Nice store. I also like Wilbur's, just went there for the first time recently.

Oh ye of little faith! :) UM spanked OSU, they can do the same for USC!

Wilburs is a couple of years old. It's across College from the mall, just South of Dellenbach's. They had a really good selection...some Dogfish Head beers and Stone (even the 3 liter bottle), as well as many others. I got a bomber of Avery's The Czar Imperial Stout there and a 6er of Old Jubilation Ale.

This isn't the place right next to Wild Oats, is it? I can't keep them all straight from 1300 miles away, and I know that it used to be called something really generic like "World Beverage" or something like that.

The Nefarious Ten Pin Imperial Porter was packaged in a 22 oz that was sealed with wax. It poured a dark black with a creamy brown head that went to a thin layer and left some lacing. The aroma is of sweetish chocolate malts with a touch of coffee and vanilla. The taste is roasted chocolate malts (somewhat sweetened with vanilla) up front with a late bitter, slightly alcoholic, finish. It had a creamy, full mouthfeel. A nice smooth drinking porter. It's similar to the regular Ten Pin from what I remember. I think I like this slightly better.
