View Full Version : Colombus Hops?
Hey, I am curious if anyone knows if Colombus hops come in whole leaf form? I've seen them pelletized, but am not sure if they can be purchased in whole leaf form.
I don't know if this is a stupid question. At this point, I'm not sure where to look.

Columbus comes raw, but it would depend on if your HBS carries it that way.

Mmmmm, Columbus Hops. Magic Hat used all Columbus in their HiPA this summer. Lots of dry grassy, mown hay flavors in there. Not overboard (45 IBU) but tasty. What'cha brewing with Columbus?
Cheers!

My local carries them in both forms. His website is currently going thru some construction so a link would do you no good.
I love using them. Came across them completely by accident. Picked up a package out of the Northern Brewers bin in the fridge without looking. Got home and saw my error. Used them in a stout and loved the results.

Please forgive my ignorance, but.....
I am assuming that Columbus and Columbian (yes..HOPS) are different types?
I dry hopped an IPA with Columbian at my HB stores recommendation and it was fantastic.

I was thinking about dry hopping with Columbian as an experiment. Anyone try this?

Like I said in the thread above...I did it and it was excellent!
Hey Guys,
Thanks for the leads on the hops. Actually, I had a micro-brewed pale ale last weekend with those two hops present, and the aroma was incredible, followed by a very pleasant taste. I want to try incorporating them into future beer projects (in other words, future bottle bombs).
Oh, and I friggin appologize for the Colombus spelling. I'm normally a coherent speller.
Thanks again,
Rich
