Finally my first post... Hello all.

I was just wondering if any of you all have brewed small batches before...

I was thinking of doing one or two due to the fact that I have 2 lbs of DME hanging out from the last 5gal batch I did last week. ( A scotch ale that is probably way to dark.)

I want to get a summer brew down and wanted to try my luck at an extract Pale Ale.

I've brewed like 5 or so batches now but I wish I could do it more often, which I then realized there was an article in BYO about small batches and i checked it out.

I'm Pretty confident I have an idea of what I want to do... But wondered if anyone has some advice for small batch brews, anything and everything would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a billion,
Poops (a.k.a. Rob)

Oh and heres the recipe based off of one I found online some where.

% Weight / Weight (lbs) / Grain / Gravity Points / Color /
83.3 % / 2.00 / Light DME / 45.0 / 2.0
16.7 % / 0.40 / Crystal 40L / 2.0 / 8.0

Liberty Pellet (Estimation.)/ AA% / AAU / Boil Time / Utilization / IBU

0.6 oz / 4% / 2.4 / 60min / .284 / 25.5
0.2 oz / " / 0.8 / 10min / .103 / 3.1

Stats
OG 1.047
FG 1.012
IBU 29
ABV 4.5 %
SRM 7

Boil Volume 2.5 gallons
Batch Size 2 gallons
Yeast 75% AA

I have some left over Nottingham Danstar Dry yeast from a kit that is still good (I hope) I was planning on just using that so the only thing I will need Is to re-hydrate, figgure out a pitching rate, ( I'm splitting into 2 1gal jugs for fermentation.) and buy some specialty grains.

After Fermentation is complete one will be bottled plain the other will have a fruit extract added to compare (I was thinking raspberry @ 0.2 oz if my calculations are correct...) Thanks again! Cheers.

The way I see it is why make a small batch when you can make a big batch with the same amount of effort?
