ALL righty,
this is my first brew. And I have a question.

1.0 lbs. American Caramel 10°L Steeped 30 mins. in 1 Gal. water @ 160 Degs.
4.4 lbs. Premier Light Dry
1.0 lbs. Rice Syrup
1.0 oz. Argentina Cascade (Pellets, 5.50 %AA) boiled 60 min.
.5 oz. Hersbrucker (Pellets, 4.00 %AA) boiled 30 min.
.5 oz. Hersbrucker (Pellets, 4.00 %AA) boiled 15 min.
1.5 Lbs. Clover honey Last 15 min. of boil
Yeast : Wyeast 1056 American ale

Zest of 2 lemons in the secondary

My question is, what would the outcome be if I added 1/2 pound of honey to the secondary? or would it be better to add to the boil?

Generally, it's best to add honey NOT during the boil, but right after - this will prevent you from boiling off the aromas while also killing anything that might be in there. But in a beer with lemons and a decent amount of flavoring hops, you probably won't really be able to notice the flavor of the honey - it will just dry the beer out (honey is almost 100% fermentable). If that's what you're going for, go ahead and boil it.

I agree, I wouldn't bother adding the honey. But in times when you do use honey, never ever boil it.

Well I went with the honey in this batch.
put it in the primary this afternoon, had a lil taste it was nice and hoppy with a honey taste at the front and ends on a high hop taste.
can't wait to see what the yeast does for it as far as the flavors.

Just an update:
Time: 13:00
Temp: 70 deg. F.
Gravity: 1.046
SG: 1.066
Taste: Real nice taste starting with a slight sweet honey flavor then a hop taste with slight lemon tones, I supose that would be the Argentina cascade hop, not sure.
It does taste good at this point.

I would not recommend to keep grabbing samples at the rate you are going. Leave it alone to do its thing.

yes I agree, I just grabed that one because I had to take the stopper off and replace it with a blow off tube.

What the heck are Argentina Cascade hops?

from northernbrewer - "These Argentinian-grown Cascades are not like American Cascade - they have a very mellow and sweet character that reminds us of lemon grass, with herbal, peppery, and spicy undertones. A versatile hop to use for ales and lagers - strangely, with its sweet/spicy aroma this hop would make a good substitute for Hallertau-type and Goldings-type hops, but not a good substitute for American Cascade!"

It went into Secondary and added lemon zest today at 19:00 hours.
SG: 1.012
Temp: 70 deg F.
corrected SG: +.001= 1.013
At this sampling you can really taste the alcohol then a mild sweetness the hops hit after you swallow. Not bad for my first try cant wait to taste the final product.
now I want to try a wiesen recipe that brew dawg gave me.
