how you feel when the airlock just begins to bubble? It seems like I check all the time, asking myself "what did I do wrong?". Life is good.

When does it actually become "Beer"?

Is it when you add the yeast, or is it when the first bubble comes out of the air lock?

I always thought it isn't beer until you drink it. It doesn't exist until it's in a glass in front of you.

I always thought that it becomes beer when I bottle it. That means that the fermentation is complete and it's no longer syrup.

I know how you feel. I put my third batch in the primary Saturday afternoon. As of last night still no major fermentation, but I bet it will be going tonight when I get home, and that will feel great. And this was the first batch that I made that everything went fine, no boil overs, no temp problems etc.

Actually when you pitch the yeast into the wort it becomes gyle.

In the beginning there was nothing, only a void with no BEER... then a big bang ""BOOM"" alas beer was here.

If I remember correctly Descartes first envisioned the coordinate system while drunk on his back watching a fly crawling on the ceiling.
