I am a bit new to this board and I'm very surprised there was not already a post about Portland brew pubs. The Portland Metro area has some of the finest breweries and pubs in the nation. I lived in Portland for three and a half years and I've never seen any other cities with as many.

Some places worth noting:

Lucky Labrador
Bridgeport
Racoon Lodge
Amnesia Brewing
Laurelwood
Rogue Ales
McMenmins
Full Sail
Widmer Brothers
Alameda Brew House
Hair of the Dog

And that is just to name a few of the ones I've tried while I was living there.

So if your ever in Portland don't forget to try the beer!

And I understand a decent Portland beer bar is Henry's Tavern on 12th Street in the Pearl District. I may be visiting in June.

Don't forget Deschutes. Don't recall if it's in Portland proper, but it's in the area and always worth mentioning.

Actually, Descutes is in Bend which is a good piece away from Portland.

There are plenty of good places to go and enjoy a brew or two. The one I usually go to with my buddies is The Horse Brass. English style pub with one of the best tap selectins in town.

Don't they show proper English league football matches there? And have Guinness flown directly from Ireland? I seem to recall my BIL taking me there when I came to visit.

Probably because we all know and just try to ignore the fact because it makes us sad to not be there! ;)

Except Fret, he'll argue Denver vs. Portland any day!

A buddy of mine moved there and lives around the corner from the Horse Brass. He said it was his favorite place ever.

Yes Deschutes is down towards Bend, which has many great breweries as well. Bend is 2-3 hours SE of Portland.

Henry's on 12th is a nice bar. They have over 100 beers on tap from around the world. They have a frozen river around the bar to sit your drinks on that keeps them frosty cold. Its in the old Henry Winehards Brewery in downtown Portland. Its owned by PCR(Pacific Coast Restaurants), they own alot of the other popular places in the area too like Stanfords, Portland Steak and Chop, Portland City Grill, Newport Seafood Grill, and Manzana Rotisserie Grill.

I've been into the Horse Brass for work but never socially. It seemed like a nice place, but too smokey for me. They need better ventilation if they are going to let people smoke.

Some of my favorite places are the McMenamins establishments. The Bagdad theater is probably my all time fav of theirs. Beer and Pizza at the concessions stand, and every other row of chairs in the theater taken out and tables put in their place.

Let me guess... they have Foster's representing Australia....

Those 'ice bars' are pretty nifty me thinks, and are fun for entertainment while drinking too. I remember playing pint shuffleboard on the one at the Williams Streey Pub in Renton Washington, which used to be a nice place until they cut back the microbrew taps and replaced them with BMC.

I suggested they install an ice bar here at the Glen, my local pub. That would go over great here in warm muggy Queensland.

Glad the old brewery is being put to good use!

Whats their tap list like? Old Speckled Hen? Watney's? real Irish Guinness? Tops!
*Puts Horse Brass on Portland list*
*Remembers that they still smoke in bars in Oregon*
*May opt to stay in Washington*

Couldn't tell you if they do or not. I only get there a few times a year and I've never seen the TV on.
