first time brewer

hey guys,
this weekend will be my first time brewing a batch of beer.my wife got me a kit for x-mas,it will be an alpine amber ale.if you have any helpful hints i could use it would be great.i hope to be visiting this site many more times for the rest of my life.

You'll get more information there and in a far more organized manner than we could give you in a bunch of randomly sorted posts. Once you've read that, we can help you with whatever points you might have some difficulty.

Since the wife bought you the kit I can, from experience, give you one piece of advice. Include her in the brewing process some how. My wife helps me all the time and I feel it helps with my continueing to brew. Being that she helps me she feels involved. This gives her a feeling of ownership and a desire to want to see me succeed. So in return she continues to support me in my adventures. We both win... she feels good, and I keep brewing.
