Yesterday US Airways sued the state of New Mexico for denying them an alcohol servers license. New Mexico is trying to force all interstate air carriers to obtain a state license in order to serve beer and wine onboard any flight coming or going to New Mexico. From a customers standpoint, I recommend we all offer to join the airlines and make this a class action suit.
Last month I was flying to Albuquerque from Chicago and the United (United Express) flight attendant told passengers they could not be served beer due to the state of New Mexico. I have complaint letters in to United for their lack of warning to passengers and substandard service my their contract carrier (Shuttle America). So far no response.
They (and the state) need some really good bad publicity over this stunt.
New Mexico certainly has problems with alcohol abuse and certainly has problems with incompetent petty politicians and bureaucrats that are out of their league and forget who their "customers" are - us taxpayers.

PS - one local brewer has reported being threatened by a local tribal government and now will not serve more than two 22-0z beers to a customer. These bureaucrats need to be stopped now before the lunacy spreads. Even homebrewers will not be safe.

Agreed. New Mexico is probably the most backward moving state in the nation. I have lived in this poor excuse of a state for far too long and have seen first hand just how the government is trying to rid the state of its liberties, especially where alcohol is involved. I am extremely happy to say that by mid summer I shall rid myself of citizenship to this state once and for all. New Mexico's stance toward alcohol consumption is blurred and uneducated as are most of it's citizens. The state has the poorest schools and standards in the nation and it is directly reflected in their governmental politics and standardized test scores.
