I have been thinking about getting one those march 809 pumps but what I'd like to know what you all think of it. Also what should I know before getting one, where should it be placed in the setup, how does it handle air in the line..etc

Thanks

It is a decent pump and does what it is intended to do well. It is not a self priming pump but as long as you can keep it lower than the level of the liquid it is not an issue. If you can splurge and get the stainless head I would recommend it. I have broke 2 pump head over the last 3 years. I had the pump plumbed in to my system with copper pipe and compression fittings. I would recommend using flexible tubing and not over tightening any fittings.

It is easy to vary the flow rate with a ball valve on the output side given the magnetic impeller.

Once I get a new head the pump will be mounted in a water resistant movable box and use the flexible tubing with quick disconnects.

What type of system are you looking to use your pump with?

Does anyone know of a good bleeder valve to help start the flow?
