My header doesn't describe me by any means as the day I become a "snob" to others who don't share my opinion is the same day I start drinking Budweiser and listening to the "new" Metallica exclusively.

However, as a beer enthusiast and a music enthusiast (as well as an audio enthusiast) I wondered if anyone else here is a bit "elite" in their tastes in things aside from beer. I'm flat out weird and don't mind calling myself that. Less the fact I am a huge football fan, which is common in Alabama and have a gigantic Southern draw in my language, I break the mold of "good ole boy" from Alabama.

As far as modern music is concerned, I listen to almost exclusively progressive melodic metal. It is a bit funy, because even for those who do not know what that is, it is so paralelled with my beer taste it is quite notable. In the 80's, I drank Budweiser and listened to bands like Metallica.
As time grew on, I tried Moosehead beer and bands like Dream Theater and Fates Warning. Now I drink the "weird beer" like Exodus Porter and listen to bands like Vanden Plas (Germany.) I don't know any local people who listen to VP or drink #Exodus Porter, though I am sure there are some out there.

You need some good Colorado prog rock and some good Colorado ale to go with it! Check out the following links:

Odell's 90 Shilling: www.odells.com

Lemme know what you think!

Old metallica was good, new metallica is a disgrace to their cool band name. Nowdays I don't really listen to their old stuff even.

Recently got into some Ben Harper, good stuff. Ozzy has always had some great stuff, just gotta know the right songs. Please don't take me for a conformist but even system of a down has some good songs, namely toxicity and aerials. Peace, HN-

Both of the sites look interesting. I wish the band has some sample MP3s on the website. The 90 Shilling also sounds interesting, though it is not available in my area. : /

I would't call someone a "conformist" as most of the bands I listen to, the general public has never even heard of, but there are a few popular bands that although a bit "formulatic" they are just "better" than the other stuff in my ears. Fuel and The Goo Goo Dolls would be good examples of that. Great songwriting, great sounding guitars and emotic vocals.
To place this more on topic, I feel the same way about beer. Harp Lager is a macro brew, but I can't name a lager off the top of my head that I like better. Still, most of the beer I drink are micros or premium imports (Sam Smith for example) because they are simply better to me.
My hats are off to the few bigger bands and the fewer bigger breweries that are able to both make it in a large market and impress me as well. That is a tough challenge and few manage to do it.
