Well time to come back into the realbeer fold. I've moved from DC to Colorado. I've started sampling more of the local beers and am loving them all. I'll be spending the Next year making sure the upcoming political events go off with out a hitch.

if anyone wants to meet up for a beer or has suggestions of places to try please share them. I'm working downtown and living in Arvada.

Cheers

Since you are downtown, pop in to Great Divide Brewing. Real good brews and friendly folks.

And to think, I wasn't aware that Colorado had a downtown. :D

Welcome to the West. There are some great beers in CO. I've noted that craft brews tend to stay either East or West. You're lucky and will be able to sample both now.

I lived in Colorado springs for 4 years. Just visited in September. My favorites are Fat Tire and Avalanche, but the list goes on. Laughing Lab is another great one. Good luck out there! I would drown i na vat of beer if I moved back now.

Here's a good list for ya to check out:

Flying Dog - Blake St. close to Coors Field
Pints - not far from downtown, opposite side of Speer
BJ's Brewhouse - head towards Flatiron Crossing, you'll see it on the south side of 36
Great Divide - on Park Ave. West, close to Coors Field
Breckenridge Brewery - stone's throw from Coors Field
Avery Brewing - Boulder
Left Hand Brewing - Longmont
Bristol Brewing - C Springs
Odell Brewing - Fort Collins

that ought to keep you busy for a while.... :)

I was there last years GABF and toured a few breweries in the area too.
I would add these to your list

Downtown Denver

Falling Rock.....best beer bar I've seen anywhere in the USA in my opinion. Awesome selection of draft micros.

I would strongly second the Great Divide Brewery / tasting room.

Fort Collins - definitely visit New Belgium - they have a tasting room and you can stock up on one of my favourite beers - La Folie.

Boulder - Mountain Sun brew pub -= great little cafe bar in the center of town with some great drafts and sound pub food.

Avery - if you can find it. This is doesn't have a bar - just offers tastings so check ahead and get directions!! (it's at the back of a pretty anonymous industrial estate) As it was GABF week the place was rocking the day we were there - they may not even be open weekdays normally.

--- there are a load more that we didn't get to.

I agree with Theakston. Never been to Falling Rock, though - it's in a relatively hairy part of town for me, and I've always been dubious of a place with so many taps. Is it possible to keep them all clean and get good beer every time there? The Yard House does a pretty poor job of that...

Pints - not far from downtown, opposite side of Speer
BJ's Brewhouse - head towards Flatiron Crossing, you'll see it on the south side of 36
Great Divide - on Park Ave. West, close to Coors Field Stopped after work one day, they had a DJ spinning, the beer was better than the music
Breckenridge Brewery - stone's throw from Coors Field Stopped couple times after work, love the 471 and the vanilla porter is good too
Avery Brewing - Boulder
Left Hand Brewing - Longmont Been there a couple trips ago,
Bristol Brewing - C Springs
Odell Brewing - Fort Collins Been a few times always happy to go back

Fort Collins - definitely visit New Belgium - they have a tasting room and you can stock up on one of my favourite beers - La Folie. Been a few times, love the new belgium tap room in the airport too, its in the A terminal near the end where the small planes are.

Fretlessman, are you still playing guitar downtown?

that ought to keep you busy for a while.... :)

Yes, I'm playing down at Elway's in Cherry Creek most weekend nights (Th/F/S). Worth double checking with me to be sure I haven't subbed out the gig on a given night, though. :)
