ok, i just popped open the first of these, too...WOW!

a nice, deep, reddish brown with black aftertones...almost mahogany, you know, after it's been oiled and got a nice patina on it, or maybe a walnut color.

nice hoppy nose...flowery and spicy smell.

the taste? hell yeah! nice deep malt flavor with a lot of hoppiness to tickle the tongue. no spicy adjuncts from what i can tell, but it does seem to have a fruity taste.

yet another winner :)

I told you!

I like all the Avery beers I've tried; especially the Hog Heaven barleywine.
They have a great selection of Avery at Brennans on Bluemound Rd...not too far from your old stomping grounds, I believe.

yeah, i found out they stocked micros about 6 weeks before i moved...had most of the tommyknockers from there.

i rarely went into brennans because i didn't like their wine selections, kept going to v. richards.

completely forgot about that place...right by kopps and grand gourmet.
