New York State Brewers

What are your feelings about the quality of beer produced in New York State?

It seems your in "Beer in the Midwest" section...Being from NY (long Island) i had plenty of oppurtunities to drink NY beer, and i must say they have some of my Favs...

Brooklyn Lager (and local 1)
South Hampton Secret
Blue Point HopticalIllusion
Ommegang Abbey
Saranac Black forest

The list could go on.... I think New York has produced some quality...i Tasted A LOT of NY brewed beer at 'brewfest' at south street sea port the past 2 years, where NY Breweries shows their stuff!

I agree with the beers mentioned above as being quite good. I'd add Southern Tier and Ithaca Beer Co. as good breweries, among others, in NYS. I noted in a different thread that recently I've been drinking NYS beers almost exclusively because they have been cheaper. I've not been disappointed. NYS definitely has some good beers.

Where in upstate are you Phil?

There are plenty of good quality beers from NYS. Central Ny has many fine breweries. Add Ommegang from Cooperstown ands the beers from producers located in the North country and you have a great selection on beer.

The quality and selection from downstate are good as well.
