What if...home brewing were offered at the local community collage? Or if someone taught it from their home or store? Not the brewing institutes, geared more to be a Brew Master, but a Saturday class, geared to the fundamentals of and starting to brew your first batch?
I know I was very nervous my first batch, and until I found this board, was really just guessing and hoping what I was doing was correct. I would have paid for a class. Just for the piece of mind.
Hummm....me thinks I need to talk to the local homebrew store and brew-pub....

Not sure where you live, but here in MN there are several home brew clubs that frequently do open brew sessions where a member is doing a brew and any other members are openly invited to come and see the set up, process, etc. Are there any local homebrew clubs you could join (if you haven't already) and if so set up a open brew session? Just an idea.

I don't know of any clubs in Austin, but it may be something worth starting up.

The homebrew club in Austin, TX is the Austin Zealots. They meet the third Sat of each month at the Gingerman starting at 6:30pm

Nifty idea, though.

So much for my early retirement...
Fast_Eddie - I'll try to make it down, this Saturday, if not, I will definitely be there Dec 20.

Thanks for the info!

I should join too - I'm usually so busy either brewing or drinking or working or dealing with the family that I just don't seem to have time to make it.
