A little pricey...but it would take a good deal of gasoline for me to pick up 90min IPA driving from WI....:D

Anyone know of a Canadian online beer store like this :(

I've got a feeling they won't ship across the border.

Otherwise it looks great.

yeah, the prices are a bit high, but significantly less than driving to places that sell them!

although, heh, i'm in CO and i can get 90 minute ;)

cuz you can get fresh point, blatz, etc.? dunno, man, dunno...when i lived there i could rarely get good beer at the stores unless i drove forever to find the specialty stores...or went to the breweries themselves.

heh, everyone talks about WI, land of beer and cheese...two things i could never find there unless i REALLY hunted (in the 35 years i lived in the state): good, aged, extra sharp cheddar cheese and decent beer!

well i've been getting my 90min through trades.....among other great brews.

a little off topic ...but speaking of cheese; anyone ever try the chimay cheeses?

b3s
11-07-2003, 11:13 PM
no, but i want to get some...i'd like to do a beer & cheese night sometime and i was thinking some chimay beer and cheese would be quite good.

anyone know where to get these cheeses online?

Guys - I've had a few too many tonight to be particularly cogent but I have to say the 90 Minute IPA is soooo gooood ;)

A better taste analysis to follow later....can say it starts off kinda resinous - like chinook but then smooths out.......mmmmmmmm

yeah, that is a damn good beer! i don't get it often, because when i do get it i want it to be memorable!

... fellas I don't know how you lads do it ... if I experimented like the rest of you I'd have my arms (in full hug position) around the porcelan goddess ... this old fart ( me, myself and I ) will likely stick with the Harp ...

We had a Chimay & Belgian Tasting, and I ordered 15 lbs. of the 3 different Chimay cheeses for 60 people..way under guessed. Had a 5 course dinner with 8 beers. Great fun..

Got the cheeses at www.igourmet.com

they are a little pricey, and my contact at Manneken-Brussel (the importer of Chimay) told me he could get the cheeses for about 2 or 3 dollars a pound less.

Well...I regularly get

New Glarus
Capital
Lakefront
Three Floyds
Tyranena
Anderson Valley
New Holland
Avery

Cheese??? I have no problem finding any kind of cheese, especially extra sharp cheddar.

The only time I can't get good beer and cheese is when I travel outside Wisconsin.

I do have trouble finding some of the beers talked about here, like Stone, Rogue, Dogfish Head.

They distribute either side of WI...maybe it is just to saturated of a market, not enough volume

I'm with BluesHarp on this one - I travel through Wisconsin a couple times a year, and I never have a problem finding good beer - even way up North in Rhinelander there's a liquor store that has a decent selection of stuff. Plus, I think Wisconsin has one of the best ratios of quality breweries per capita. Geez, Capital, New Glarus, Lakefront, Tyranena, Great Dane, and Sprecher just for starters. Add in some smaller gems like Delafield, Hinterland, and others, and you've got a tremendous diversity of beer in the state. Heck, I even like Gray's out of Janesville and some other older breweries around.

Now, I can't vouch for out-of-state beers and imports, but the in-state selection is definitely one of the best!

um, what i said was, i had to travel to find the stuff (i.e. not two blocks away).

yeah, i could have driven downtown and gotten lakefront frome the brewery (and often did). i could have driven 40 minutes to the store that had several hundred different beers.

and i often did.

it's the driving all over the place part that drove me nuts! i can get good, aged WI cheddar cheese at my supermarket (5 minutes) and on the way home stop at the beer store and get a six of 90 minute.

maybe it was just my starting point in WI, but it always seemed like everything was at least 40 minutes away!

only place i found for that kind of stuff was in west allis, which was always a pain to get to after work or on saturdays.

Barstow Street...right in downtown Waukesha...first time I have been there, definitely not the last.

oh, right...by where the old cop shop was and where jendusa is or was.

yeah, there's a reason i never went there, now that i think of it....my ex-in-laws are near there and i never really like running into them.
