Though I live in "beer hell" in Alabama approx 90mi. SW of Atlanta and right near the Georgia border, I have one semi-local beer that I think is one of the best that has ever blessed my tongue....... Sweetwater Exodus Porter.
Though I am a hop-head for ales lagers, etc. I don't like porters bitter. If you like a hoppy porter this one isn't for you. If you don't care for the chocolate malt, this is not for you either as the finish of the beer is relatively chocolaty. If you likie those qualities this is an absolutely brilliant beer.
The body of this porter is slightly lighter than average, but it's delicate chocolate and coffee flavors show through well and I don't think I have had a porter close to this one.
I prefer to drink it at about 60-65 degrees which is warmer than the 55-60 I have found to be ideal for a SS or Anchor (to my taste anyway) One of the big strongpoints of this beer is the "velvety mouthfeel," which is even stated opn the label. Drinking Exodus is akin to drinking liquid silk. If anyone is in the Atlanta area, give it a try and and if you are traveling to Atlanta pick some up.
