Cheers! I was at a Ducks Unlimited auction/fund raiser event tonight, they had an open bar, and thank the heavens I have tomorrow off! The bar had no good beer, but now I'm home and my Anchor Steam is calling my name.

Just got home, and I'm now enjoying a 2003 Celebration Ale from Sierra Nevada. Damn fine beer this year. Nicely hopped, bittering, flavor and aroma. Good malt balance, too.

That's because Duck's Unlimited is run by AB!
Was at a friend's house last night sampling his latest batch. It was a pretty good stout, with a hint of coffee behind it. I think he has a winner with this one.
The student has become the master...
Tonight (Friday) will be my first excursion back into brewing since 1998. I'm going to start with a simple ale to get my bearings back; wish me luck!

That explains it, it also explains why I was drinking Crown Royal.

I enjoyed another Conniston Bluebird last evening. A fine beer! Shame I only have one left. I hope my local has more of it!

Welcome back to the obsession, ron!!
It's 2:30 pm & I just got up (Jesus, I hate working night shift!!)---in about an hour or so I'll probably have a Rogue Honey Cream Ale.
I was a little disappointed in this brew---I guess whenever I buy a micro "honey" brew, I expect a definite honey character to it. The brew is good, though---just not what I envisioned. Moderate hoppiness, and it is smooth.
Drink hearty, y'all!!!!

Thursday....one year ago to the day, a friend of mine died of cancer at 37 years old. He liked a good beer, but was a Korbel man at heart. I didn't have any Korbel, so Guiness it was.
Tonight (Friday)...Lakefront Oktoberfest and on to SN Pale Ale; got to get to the liquor store tomorrow...getting kind of low on varieties. You know you are a beer geek when Sierra Nevada Pale ale is just an ordinary drink. :D

BluesHarp, god bless your friend, I lost my mom this past February to cancer, I'll raise a glass this evening in honor all of our loved ones out there who are no longer with us, and in the other hand I raise a glass to those who are still with us.
Slainte!

Patty...I like your style...it's been a rough year. It marked the tenth anniversary of my father's death due to cancer; lost one friend to the big "C", and had another die of a heart attack at age 39. He had an enlarged heart due to a congenital condition...never had a clue.
My condolences on the loss of your mother.
I will raise a glass with you to our departed loved ones...and all those who remain to raise one with us.
live every day with gusto...you never know how many you have left.
Slainte, prosit, and skol!!!

I think this thread has taken a slightly different course than Saint patrick thought when he started it; but you know what?...friends (internet or otherwise) and a few good beers have healed many a wound, and for far less than any psychologist.
I hereby proclaim: November 7... RealBeer.com Community Remembrance Day...raise a glass to those who we miss; and to those we are blessed to still have.
It is a small world indeed...and I need another beer!

I'm with that my friend ... you are all great folk ...
May the winds of fortune sail you,
May you sail a gentle sea.
May it always be the other guy
who says, "this drink's on me."
this one's on me gang .... take advantage of me while you can ... I'm running low on beer

Tonight I wanted an ale and when my local store still didn't have the Anchor Liberty (they have not been able to get it in about a month,) I picked up a six of SA Pale Ale.
