If I bottle a Belgian Strong Ale in the spring and I let it condition in the bottle over the summer (temperatures can reach in the high 80's in my apartment), will it ruin the beer?
Thanks,
Nate

You can beat the living shit out of belgian yeast (temp wise) and they turn out ok.

Fantastic, that is what I wanted to hear.

Any ideas about other beers? Say a pale ale or porter?

The answer to all of the above is... it depends. Every beer behaves differently.

That being said, I'd be concerned about storing beer above room temp for an extended period. My beer "cellar" sits around 75F for maybe a month in the summer... this isn't ideal, but it seems to be ok.

If possible, try to get yourself a second fridge (used is cheap) for beer storage.

in accordance with brewdogs remark. . .belgian yeast strains typically provide a lot of character, which will mask concerns of different temperature conditions. . . .this doesn't mean you're guarenteed a good beer. . . but most likely at least a drinkable beer.

In the world of beers though. . .belgians, though I like and respect them. . .are typically not on the top of my list. . . .
